Report an issue

There is an ongoing effort to keep improving CERNIS PRO. CERNIS PRO is the project of a single developer. Feedback is welcome — it makes the software better. Below is how a bug or a security vulnerability can be reported.

Reporting a bug

Where to send it: kontakt@cernispro.de

What makes a good report:

  • The version of CERNIS PRO (shown at the top of the program window)
  • Operating system and distribution
  • What was done before the bug occurred — the steps to reproduce it
  • What was expected, and what happened instead
  • If available: the error message, word for word

Please do not send real network data (IP addresses, MAC addresses, device names) unless it is needed — when in doubt, redact it. This fits the privacy stance of the project.

Reporting a security vulnerability

Where to send it: security@cernispro.de

Please report security vulnerabilities confidentially first and do not make them public straight away — that leaves time to close them before they can be exploited.

Security research is welcome

Anyone who examines CERNIS PRO for weaknesses and reports their findings responsibly makes a valuable contribution. Such reports are expressly encouraged — every hint that makes the software safer is a help.

Machine-readable as well in the security.txt.

What to expect

CERNIS PRO is developed by a single person alongside other commitments. I read every report, but I cannot promise fixed response times. Replies can take a while — but they do come.
